Developing a successful Angus breeding program is a long-term process built on consistency, discipline and objective measurement.
At Pavey Angus our approach has always been simple — focus on steady genetic improvement supported by measurable performance data rather than short-term trends.
Each generation of cattle is evaluated using recognised tools including the TransTasman Angus Cattle Evaluation (TACE), Estimated Breeding Values (EBVs), genomic testing and independent structural assessment. These tools allow breeding decisions to be based on measured performance rather than assumption.
Retaining Pavey Verified V3
One decision taken this year was to retain Pavey Verified V3 within the stud herd rather than offering him for sale.
V3 combines strong growth and carcase performance, sitting in the upper percentiles of the breed for traits such as 200-day growth and carcase weight. Structurally he presents with balanced claw, foot and leg structure, attributes we believe are important for long-term soundness in commercial cattle.
Pedigree and Future Use
V3 is by Stoney Point Spectacular S026, a son of SydGen Enhance, and from the Pavey Wendy cow family which traces to Millah Murrah Paratrooper and the Dunoon Joyle line. This pedigree combines proven performance genetics with strong maternal influence.
V3 will be used in the upcoming joining season as part of the continued genetic development of the herd. Selected semen packages are expected to become available later this year.
Stud breeding is ultimately about long-term progress, and the focus at Pavey Angus remains on producing cattle with balanced, commercially relevant genetics backed by measurable performance.
We look forward to evaluating the next generation of V3 progeny as they develop within the herd over the coming seasons.
