Pavey Angus Cudgewa

As we move deeper into the season, the broader Angus cattle outlook remains positive, underpinned by continued demand for high-quality genetics, strong commercial confidence, and a clear focus on efficiency and profitability across breeding programs.

Across southern Australia, producers are increasingly selective in their breeding decisions. Fertility, structural soundness, feed efficiency and carcase performance are now firmly front-of-mind, with commercial clients looking for cattle that can perform across a range of environments while maintaining market flexibility. These trends continue to align closely with the long-term breeding direction at Pavey Angus.

Seasonal Conditions & Regional Update

Closer to home, the recent fires across Cudgewa and the Upper Murray have understandably impacted the region and temporarily drawn attention away from normal day-to-day operations. Our thoughts are with all those affected, including neighbours, emergency services and the wider community who have been working tirelessly under difficult conditions.

At this stage, Pavey Angus has not been directly affected, and livestock and infrastructure remain secure. While the situation required focus and vigilance, our breeding program, herd management and forward plans remain firmly on track.

March Bull Sale Planning

Importantly for clients and supporters, our planned March bull sale remains on schedule. Preparations across the V-Series continue as intended, with bulls developing well and performance data continuing to be monitored closely through Angus Australia’s TransTasman Angus Cattle Evaluation.

We anticipate being in a position to formally announce sale details next week, including date confirmation and catalogue timelines. As always, transparency and preparedness are priorities, and we will continue to keep clients informed as plans are finalised.

Looking Ahead

The coming weeks will see a return to full operational focus, including:

  • Finalising sale details and catalogue content

  • Ongoing structural and performance assessment of sale bulls

  • Continued engagement with commercial and seedstock clients

Despite short-term regional challenges, confidence in the Angus industry remains strong. At Pavey Angus, our focus continues to be on breeding cattle that add measurable value, are structurally sound, fertile, and capable of delivering consistent outcomes for commercial producers.

We appreciate the continued support and interest shown in the program and look forward to sharing further updates shortly.
