With the Pavey Angus Bull Sale only days away, we have taken the opportunity to reflect on the type of cattle represented across this year’s offering.
While each bull is an individual, the draft as a whole reflects the breeding priorities that have guided the development of the Pavey Angus herd and the V-Series program.
Across the offering we are pleased to see consistent strength in several key commercial traits that are important to modern beef production.
Balanced Growth
Many of the bulls in this year’s draft display strong growth through the 200, 400 and 600 day EBVs. These traits contribute directly to weaning weights, backgrounding performance and overall production efficiency. Our aim has always been to combine growth with structural balance and practicality.
Carcase Merit
The draft also demonstrates encouraging carcase traits, with a number of bulls displaying strong EMA and IMF values. These indicators contribute to yield and eating quality outcomes that are increasingly important across both domestic and export markets.
Moderate Birth and Calving Ease Maintaining moderate birth weight while preserving growth remains an important objective in the Pavey Angus breeding program. Several bulls within the draft demonstrate this balance, helping support calving ease while still delivering strong post-natal performance.
Structural Soundness
All sale bulls have undergone independent structural assessment to provide buyers with additional confidence in feet, legs and mobility. Sound structure remains essential for bulls expected to work across large commercial environments.
Quiet Temperament
Temperament continues to be an important selection trait within the herd. Quiet, manageable cattle make a meaningful difference to safety and day-to-day handling on commercial operations.
As sale day approaches, we would like to thank everyone who has taken the time to inspect the cattle, review the catalogue or enquire about the program. We look forward to welcoming visitors to the property and discussing the cattle further.
